Supported formats: MP4, MOV, M4V, WAV, MP3. Let us know if you need support for other formats. We are always looking to improve our feature set and roadmap.

Ideal format: files under 10GB of size, H.264, and 10 Mbps bitrate. We work with proxies (HD and higher), not high-resolution files. For files with a higher bitrate or larger size, we typically need to re-encode them, which may sometimes cause network instability or disconnections. Additionally, please ensure you’re using one of the supported formats listed above before uploading content.

Recommended ingestion & indexing specs

Stay within the recommended column for the smoothest uploads and fastest indexing. Files outside the enforced limits are rejected at upload.

Corrupted files

Sometimes files uploaded on Imaginario AI can give a message like a “400 Bad Request error” or a “Failed Processing” message. This issue is likely due to a corrupted file, meaning it has become damaged or incomplete, which makes it difficult or impossible to process with our AI systems. To troubleshoot, try uploading another version of the file or use a different file altogether.

These are typically files that have been pirated or illegally ripped, incompletely downloaded, improperly transferred, affected by storage media issues, viruses or malware, improper shutdowns, disk errors, codec problems, or improperly re-encoded.

Step 1: Click on the “Upload” button (top right), then:

  • Drag and drop files to be uploaded, or
  • Select a file from your local hard drive, or…
  • Connect to your preferred cloud storage service and upload the files you need. We support cloud integrations to streamline the process, eliminating the need for re-uploading and relying on your local broadband speed.

Supported services (you’ll find them in the top left side of the screen):

  • Google Drive
  • Dropbox
  • Frame.io
  • Backblaze
  • AWS S3 buckets
  • Wasabi buckets
  • Box

We also offer integrations through our API with media asset managers such as CatDV, Iconik, SNS, Quantum Storage and more. Once you connect to one of your storage buckets, just add your access details (e.g., access key and secret key) — we create a small proxy on ingest, so you can index anything you need without moving your masters.

Step 2: You’ll then be asked to select which elements to process

  • Speech — covering 100+ languages; see Supported Languages & Dialects
  • Visuals — people (every face is extracted and analyzed), actions, objects, logos, text on screen, locations, color palette and more; see Video Search Basics
  • Sounds — ambient sounds and emotional sounds (e.g., explosions, laughter, crying)
Faces are automatically processed with any video element to create StoryLab™ Single Clips (fully automatic vertical clips) and Face Visual Filters. See Visual Search Filters Introduction to learn more about this type of video indexing and how to use it.

The more types of indexing you select, the longer the indexing takes. Example: for interviews, you may only need speech (no need for visual indexing).

We also offer celebrity identification and facial expressions as add-ons — they are not included by default:

  • Facial expressions. Emotions covered: happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, contempt, surprise, and confusion.
  • Celebrity recognition. Note: some local talent or lesser-known personalities (e.g., reality show participants or emerging athletes) may not be recognized by the system.
